Let's Mix Your Record

Pre-Session Checklist
Bypass all limiters, compressors, and EQs on your master output before bouncing. The mix needs headroom for the mastering stage.
Export all stems from the exact same starting point (e.g., Bar 1, Beat 1). This ensures perfect phase alignment when imported into the mixing session.
Label tracks descriptively (e.g., 'KICK_IN', 'GTR_L_RHYTHM', 'LEAD_VOX_MAIN'). Avoid generic default names like 'Audio 1' or 'Track 5'.
Ensure no individual tracks are clipping (hitting 0dBFS). Aim for peak levels around -6dB to -3dB to provide adequate working headroom.
Bypass time-based effects (reverb/delay) unless they are integral to the sound design. Keep essential tone-shaping plugins (amp sims, specific EQs) active.
Include your current rough mix and 1-2 commercially released reference tracks in the style of Country, Rock, or Metal to guide the sonic direction.
